I'm currently preparing to perform an ambient set and wanted to to try and use the M8 as a kind of dumb clip launcher. But I also love Auxiliary Tables for re-usability ... but there's a caveat that I often forget - that rows featuring an Instrument value will reset the Instrument and ignore existing modifiers from the Auxiliary Table that is currently in play. That's when miscbill on the Discord made me aware of the SNG command - which utterly saved my bacon.
A few tricks to elaborate on here:
- If you omit the Instrument value on a Row, the Note values seem to have no effect - this makes sense - as the Instrument is not fired. In my case I was able to work around this by using the Slice effect to force the Instrument to jump to the desired slice.
- In order for the trick to work (unless I find another way), it is required that there be a desired Looping Phrase be an Island. This way it won't progress anywhere undesired and maintains playback indefinitely.
- Auxiliary tables will continue playback unless interrupted and they're very re-usable. I tend to use them for 'common' tasks. Plus each Instrument features a dedicated Table already - giving you a total of five columns of modulation when using an Auxiliary table (two columns from the three of the Instrument and three columns on the Auxiliary table).
