"Drone Not Drones" continues to overwhelm the senses as a 28-hour continuous audio/visual performance at the Cedar Cultural Center. Given the events afflicting Minneapolis at this time a decision was made to raise funds for Minneapolis Mutual Aid as well as Doctors Without Borders. It is my understanding that we raised over $15,000 for Minneapolis Mutual Aid - which far exceeded our expectations.

The performance this year was a piece between myself and Mike Hodnick (kindohm) - who I previously played together with at "Unauthorized Waveforms". We decided to slow things way down and switch out the anxiety-inducing speeches of Spiro Agnew for Fred Hampton. Our contributions were kind of siloed - giving us guidelines of what to craft and where to focus.

  • One m8 was used for doing the tonal foundation of the Drone and some transition samples
  • One m8 was playing back recordings of Fred Hampton
  • My modular was programmed to focus on low-frequency textures
  • Mike's modular was programmed to focus on higher frequency textures

It was an honor to again play the 'Drone and a pleasure to collaborate with Mike and I look forward for the opportunity to do so again.

Above is an embedded video of our performance, with Altruit performing live visuals. Below is the audio recording of the performance.
