“Ghosts in the Machines”
Early in 2022 my partner, Shawna Lee, received the opportunity to create a piece that would be exhibited at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts adjacent to their exhibit ‘Supernatural America: The Paranormal in American Art‘.
She had also been exploring the idea of incorporating a performance artist in the piece – immediately reaching out to our friend and artist, Queen Drea.
This was a unique challenge because the piece was composed as production began and it evolved over the course of the project. Rough drafts of the composition were submitted then vocals were received – to be arranged and mixed before being submitted again.
Through this series of iterations the production took shape – telling a story that I didn’t forsee at the outset and one that I’m very proud to have been involved with.
